Chinese Sina Tech recently reported that China Unicom has initiated its WiMAX network construction project after appraising the results of WiMAX tests in the previous year and issuing a list of recommended equipment manufacturers to its provincial subsidiaries. China Unicom has opted to build an IEEE 802.16d fixed WiMAX network. Known manufacturers on China Unicom's recommendation list include Datang and Potevio.
